Mountain Biking

Scotland is famous for it's abundance of Mountain Bike trails...afterall, we do have most of the mountains!   Staying at Craigend Bed and Breakfast you can experience a different course every day and we have listed below some of our recommendations.

When you choose to stay at Craigend B&B, you will have secure storage for your bike, access to a hose for washing down and the use of a ground floor shower room and drying facilities

7 Stanes

The 7stanes are seven mountain biking centres spanning the south of Scotland, from the heart of the Scottish Borders to Dumfries and Galloway. 'Stane' is the Scots word for stone, and at each of the 7stanes locations, you'll find a stone sculpture reflecting a local myth or legend.  The courses offer every possible skill level and many offer bike hire, most can be reached in a drive of an hour or less of Craigend.
The stanes are found out on the trails in the forests, in prominent locations near cycling and walking paths. They’re accessible on foot or by horse as well as by bike, and range in size from one to three metres high and from two to six tons in weight.

Tinto Hill

About 20 mins from Craigend and from what we here a 'raw' downhill run.  If you check various mountain bike forums you will find night runs which seem to be very popular and if you search You Tube you will find lots of videos of the descent.  There is no website for this as it was a secret until Mountain Biking UK Magazine listed it as one of their 'New Places to Ride' in February 2011!!
